*I hope people use their own wise judgement when hiking always plan ahead and be prepared. One should never go beyond their abilities.*

Over the years I've had a few goals my first was to Summit all the Peaks of Waterton. Here is My Waterton Summit List I completed that goal on September 26, 2016.

My next goal I'm still working on and that is to summit the 6 10,000 foot Summmits of Glacier National Park. I have one left Kintla.

My 2018 Goal that I accomplished was to summit 40 peaks in my 40th year and that I finished on September 26, 2018.

Not sure what will be my next goal, once Glacier's Summits are done?

I commonly use 3 Hashtags on my social media. The first one is #itookthepathlesstraveledby which is to reference this blog. The next two relate to my father and grandfather who were also hikers. #milesformarkellingson is to remember my
Dad, Mark Ellingson and #dustfromthetrailandhowitsettledonme is to remember my Grandfather Earl Ellingson

Mount Ernest Ross August 7, 2021 Job/Cline Public Land Use Zone Alberta

So my sister and I have kids about the same age (she has twin boys and I have a son) so my brother in law and I took these boys that we refer to as triplets on a camping trip.  We headed up to the Cline River area, we had originally wanted to backcountry camp in the Lake of the Falls area, but we decided to stay at a campsite instead.  We didn't reserve one so we just stopped at one and booked it.  It was the David Thompson Campground.  Well this place was pretty awesome, like something out of 1980.  The boys loved the playground (which most equipment is outlawed now), they had this Family pub night where you could karaoke and had a cowboy breakfast.  We jokingly thought this is where all the rednecks of the province hang out, but it was fun.  Anyways we drove up on the Saturday set up camp and then went for a hike.  We wanted to do Mount Ernest Ross and so we headed that way.  The smoke was pretty thick but we still headed up.  It got pretty steep and only my nephew and I made it to the top.  I wish the sky had been clear cause it would have been gorgeous looking down on Abraham Lake.

Smokey day, there is a whole mountain range behind that cloud there

The triplets on the way up

Smokey view of our goal for the day

Taking lots of rests on the way up

Cool rock layers near the top

On top, it started to clear a little bit

Complete rainbow on the top looking down on Abraham Lake

Smoke starting to clear up above, you can actually see blue sky

Looking back at where we came
