*I hope people use their own wise judgement when hiking always plan ahead and be prepared. One should never go beyond their abilities.*

Over the years I've had a few goals my first was to Summit all the Peaks of Waterton. Here is My Waterton Summit List I completed that goal on September 26, 2016.

My next goal I'm still working on and that is to summit the 6 10,000 foot Summmits of Glacier National Park. I have one left Kintla.

My 2018 Goal that I accomplished was to summit 40 peaks in my 40th year and that I finished on September 26, 2018.

Not sure what will be my next goal, once Glacier's Summits are done?

I commonly use 3 Hashtags on my social media. The first one is #itookthepathlesstraveledby which is to reference this blog. The next two relate to my father and grandfather who were also hikers. #milesformarkellingson is to remember my
Dad, Mark Ellingson and #dustfromthetrailandhowitsettledonme is to remember my Grandfather Earl Ellingson

Altyn Peak/Mt. Henkel/Apikuni Peak June 21, 2017

Well now that I have finished all the peaks in Waterton it is time to start hiking all the peaks in the park to the south Glacier National Park! So We headed out early and drove to Many Glacier.  I don't think I have ever been to this part of the Park and it was spectacular.  Aside from the wind all day long it was a great day.  We had thought about doing 4 peaks today, but only had the energy and time to do three.  But they where pretty good.  Nothing too technical but the views were amazing.  I think I'll have to get to know more about this Park to the south of my favorite Park.

Rowe Meadow/Lake June 10, 2017

Well my two oldest kids headed to Calaway Park today for a school trip, so my wife and I took our two youngest and decided to go on a hike to Waterton.  I figured the snow would be clear enough to get up to Upper Rowe Lake....well I was wrong.  We headed out and the trail was clear of snow up until the Lower Rowe Lake turn off, then from there it was mostly covered in snow and at times it was up to 2 or 3 feet deep.  We eventually made it to Rowe Meadow which I thought would be clear of snow and full of flowers...but it was still under one foot of snow as well.  So we turned back and headed to Lower Rowe Lake.  I got thinking that I have never actually been to this lake.  I always would by-pass it on my longer hikes and have never taken the 2 minutes to hike the 200 meters to this little lake.  Well the highlights of this detour today was the lake was still partially frozen and the waterfall up above the lake from Upper Rowe lakes was really pretty with all its water coming down it today.  Great day and I think now I can say I've been to every named lake in the park!

By the first set of falls just minutes into the hike

Lineham Peak

This trio of Rams didn't want to move off the trail

They finally headed down the trail

Didn't see as many flowers on this trail since there was still a lot of snow

Example of how high the snow was, this was probably at least 3 feet

At Rowe Meadow with Rowe Peak behind, the trail to go up to Upper Rowe Lake is in that snow on the background

The waterfall above Lower Rowe Lake

Great Valley view looking down to where we started, that is an extension of Buchanan Ridge in the middle

Avalanche covering the trail

More Rams on the drive out

Even saw a Bear driving home
