So this was a last minute idea, Thursday night my brother-in-law wanted to go hiking but also wanted to do something in the afternoon so I thought a sunrise summit of Crowsnest would be an option. Well we got up at 1:15 am and headed to the trail. We started just after 4 am and got high enough by the 6:19 am sunrise to see the sunrise. We weren't at the top then but close. In hindsight I'd have started about 45 minutes earlier to get to the top by sunrise. Otherwise the views were spectacular in the morning. I love the glow the sun gives on the mountains in the morning. The top was chilly and with wind chill it had to be negative Celsius temperatures. We came down and spent the rest of the day in Waterton.

The crescent moon was really neat on the way up |

Sunrise coming over the Livingstone Range, we were about 30 minutes from the top but had a great view on the east side of the mountain |

Looking over at the Sisters the cloud above is shaped like a tornado and ironically is over Tornado Mountain |

I loved the triangle shadow that the mountain cast |
