So my son needs 6 more summits to have completed all the Waterton Summits, so this trip was planned with that in mind. We booked 2 nights at Lone Lake Campground and had for an objective to tackle all three of Mt. Lineham, Lone Mountain, and Mt. Bauerman. We also convinced another family to come along so we could have the entire lake to ourselves, so it was two families chilling at the lake and it was awesome. The first day we hiked in and arrived at the lake by mid afternoon and just relaxed. I think my pack was about 50lbs. and hiking all day long (almost 15km) in the heat with no shade from the Kenow fire was pretty tough. But the next day we got up and headed over to Mt. Lineham, and boy was it hot and exposed to the sun. Water was scarce along the trail and so we had to conserve which for a guy like me sweating isn't easy. Once we got back we re-hydrated and then tackled Lone Mountain that night with a bunch of the kids for a sunset hike. It was a pretty view, and on the way down I got thinking that we are probably the only people ever to summit both Lineham and Lone is the same day because why else would you do those two mountains on the same day? The reason being is usually Lineham is accessed via Cameron Lake road but since it is closed we had to go this much harder way. The next morning on our way out we dropped our packs at one point and then zipped up Bauerman to finish off the 3 summits. The two previous days the visibility was poor because of the forest fires in B.C. but the wind picked up the last day and we had great views from Bauerman. We then came down and hiked out. 3 days, 3 peaks, and lots of tired people.
