*I hope people use their own wise judgement when hiking always plan ahead and be prepared. One should never go beyond their abilities.*

Over the years I've had a few goals my first was to Summit all the Peaks of Waterton. Here is My Waterton Summit List I completed that goal on September 26, 2016.

My next goal I'm still working on and that is to summit the 6 10,000 foot Summmits of Glacier National Park. I have one left Kintla.

My 2018 Goal that I accomplished was to summit 40 peaks in my 40th year and that I finished on September 26, 2018.

Not sure what will be my next goal, once Glacier's Summits are done?

I commonly use 3 Hashtags on my social media. The first one is #itookthepathlesstraveledby which is to reference this blog. The next two relate to my father and grandfather who were also hikers. #milesformarkellingson is to remember my
Dad, Mark Ellingson and #dustfromthetrailandhowitsettledonme is to remember my Grandfather Earl Ellingson

Divide Mountain Glacier National Park June 2, 2018

Well today I had to be back for a meeting so I didn't want to do a hike that would take to long.  So today's summit was Divide Mountain.  It would have been an even shorter hike if there hadn't been a drift on the back country road that made us walk and extra 1 or 2 km each way.  Anyways it was a great day except for the wind.  I took my two youngest kids on this adventure and they made it most of the way up.  They puttered out by the abandoned look our tower and I carried on to the summit alone.  The views were great and the hike was pretty straight forward.

Our views to start the day

Two options go left or right, we chose to go up from the left, there was still significant snow to go around on the right

Rising up above Saint Mary Lake

Looking toward Logan Pass still covered in snow

Looking at the Summit through the fire lookout window

Looking through another window to Logan's Pass

Summit view looking West

Cairn view looking Southwest

Another view of the Fire Lookout

Haven't seen tonnes of flowers this year, but haven't hiked in lush areas yet either

Descending the way we went up

Looking back at our summit for the day

This was the snow drift that impeded our vehicle from going any further, hence the extra few km of walking on the road
