Vimy Peak May 1, 2021 Waterton Lakes National Park

So the weather looked good and the trail up wishbone we heard was clear so we figured this would be a good shoulder season summit.  I had done this a few years ago on the day before Vimy Ridge day in April and today was more pleasant except the snow was a little softer than in April but not bad at all.  We needed snow shoes about a 1/3 of the way up and then on the final scree to the ridge we took them off as the snow was fresh snow and wasn't that deep.  It was a real good dry approach on bikes except the creek was running a little high and took us a moment to find a place to cross.  Great day with some beautiful views of snow caped mountains.

Shortly after here we took off the snowshoes

First view of Crypt Lake

I've done this hike numerous times and never noticed this rock, amazing it hasn't fallen over

Summit View

We didn't get a group shot on the summit because the summit was actually covered in about a 3-4 foot snow drift that we figured wasn't very stable, so our summit visit was very short

Looking down on Burnt Rock Falls along the Crypt Lake Trail, I thought it could maybe be still frozen, but nope it was flowing

Great view of Crypt Lake
