Mount Galwey (night summit) May 15, 2021 Waterton Lakes National Park Alberta

So I had to work today but it was such a beautiful Saturday that I still wanted to get out, so we decided to do a night summit and maybe get a sunset from the top, well we didn't make the true sunset but the view from above was spectacular.  We made it most of the way to the top without headlamps but the last part near the summit we needed them.  The way down with headlamps was a little tricky at times to find the path but luckily the gps on my phone allowed us to stay on route.  Truly a beautiful night under the stars.  Started just before 8pm and got home and in bed just before 3am.  Quite a night!

View at the beginning

At the beginning we saw a few critters

Sun about to set on us

The shadow of the mountains

Blakiston looked majestic all night

I couldn't photograph Blakiston enough with the dusky sky behind it

Pretty amazing sky

The moon tonight was just a sliver but still shone bright

Lights on the prairies through the Galwey Window

One of the trickier sections on the way down with headlamps, little slippery on the snow
