Wall Lake Scout Camp Snowshoeing Feb. 18, 2017

So this winter we had had quite a bit of snow over the last few months but we were in the middle of a pretty warm spell. So for scout camp this year we decided to go up to Waterton and to Snow Shoe into Wall lake.  Not knowing the snow conditions we headed up and luckily the snow had melted a little and made it possible to walk on it.  I had heard that a few weeks earlier there was close to 250 cm of accumulated snow, that is over 7 feet, but because of the warm weather it had settled more and was more dense and was actually in the 4 or 5 feet range.  Well the path was pretty good except after the Forum Falls turn off the snow was less traveled and as such wasn't as compacted down and I being the heaviest in the group had the hardest time because I was sinking every step and expending more energy with every step.  I had skied this 3 times before but this was my first snow shoe experience and it was very good.  Great time, except the snow at the end hindered the good view at the Lake.
