Lone Lake/Peak July 29-30, 2016

This is one of the more remote peaks in the park and it is 14 km one way just to get to the lake plus a few more km to get to the top.  So I figured I'd do an overnight hike with my two middle children.  The Friday morning we had finished our camping in Waterton town site and we took our camper home and then I headed up with the kids to hike to Lone Lake.  It took us about 4.5 hours to get to the lake, we set up camp and ate then went to bed.  We got up early and summited by 8:30 am and we had to hurry a little as I had to be at a wedding at home by about 4:30.  We made it with just about 30 minutes to spare.  The kids did great on the hike and I was able to cross one more summit off the list.

Blakiston Creek

Love the meadows along this hike

Awesome rainbow at our camp site

Lone Lake

Not sure what this was but it was all over this one tree we saw while summiting Lone

Lone Peak! (I think this is the earliest in the day I've ever summited a mountain)

My daughter made an Inukshuk on the snow

A little black bear we saw on the way back, he looked at us and so I went to take a picture and then he turned away
